It took a long time to start this painting. Every time I looked in my photo file I would find the original photograph and was intimidated by the relationship between the tree and the barn. I finally painted it at least twenty years after photographing it.
Cool Afternoon on Bodie Island
I painted this unlikely view of the Bodie Island lighthouse so as not to copy a picture normally found in books or the Web. I was standing in the brush and grass when I captured the image.
